Journal of Migraine Sufferers

To Catherine, About feverfew; I get it at the health food store in the tinctures(little extract bottles) & take two full squirt in h2o per day; one am one pm. Also do the same with gingerroot tincture which will feel like it's going to send your head into orbit, but it won't. If anyone's interested I also take a calcium, magnesium and zinc combo vitamin, 400 mgs. of riboflavin per day, plus 3 B'100'sper day, plus extra iron. This was all per my naturalpath that i see along with my regular neurologist. After about 3 months of these vitamins i can see a difference with less headaches, less intensity, and a definite boost in energy, i had chronic fatigue and thought it was normal. The riboflavin has had much success in studies for mild to moderate migraine but give all this stuff 3 months to take cause it takes that long to make a real difference. Plus you have to take 400 mgs of the riboflavin or it won't work. You can get all this stuff at the health food store in the high doses needed, and you'll pay for it too! Woke up at 3;00 AM. with my most nasty, monthly related monster migraine and took fiorinal and zomig. It's gone but hope ad pray i don't gt a worse rebounder tomorrow. Isn't it pathetic that we have to pay for good relief with a worse migraine the next day. That really pisses me right off! GOOD LUCK CATHERINE! wendy

I am a 61 year old male. I first experienced cluster headaches at 30 years old and had them each year for 26 years. They would come for approx. 3 months at a time and occur each night during that period. There were trigers such as alchol which would bring them on at other times during those periods. At 55 years I stopped having the clusters and developed asthma; which I have had since then. Recently my internist put me on Accolate. I stopped taking them after about a week when I started showing a return to the clusters. TRhe headaches are now back at full force, but the asthma is gone. What do I do now?

Hi all.THIS IS TO LAURA IN CHICAGO.I was also concerned about the tylenol doing damage to my body but my doctor said that a safe daily dosage of tylenol per day was 4000 mg.The dosage of the vicodin is 5/500 so if I took one every 4 hours while awake than that is 4 or 5 pills a day depending on what time I get up.I get up at 6:00 during the week to get my daughter to school, and on the weekends I get up around 8:00.So during the week that is 2500mg daily and on the weekends 2000mg.Also if this treatment works I have to go in every 3 months for a full blood workup to check my liver and such.So far it has been almost 2 weeks with no headache.(Knock on wood!!!!)I am allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen so that is out of the question.I go into anaphalatic shock so that is very dangerous. Please to the other person who asked about this treatment DO NOT do this on your own.You have to be under a doctors care to do this.I have tried so many preventatives and either they didn't work or I'm allergic or bad side effects that I think this is just to see if it works because my doctor read some new research on headaches and pain control. When I only take one of the Vicodin it doesn't make me drowsy so I can function but when I had to take 2 it made me feel so drugged that I was afraid to be at home alone with my toddler.I know this treatment is a little different but it seems to be working.I feel so bad for the people who suffer and cannot get any medicine to help with the pain. But like I said my Dr.is my family doctor and I have been seeing him for 12 years so he knows me and trusts that I will not take any more of the medicine than perscribed.I think in order for the doctor-patient relationship to work trust has to be a two way street.Well I've blabbered on long enough.Good luck to all.Lisa

Estelle, the last message I sent you bounced back. Everyone else, I can't find the suggestion one of you sent about combining feverfew with something else. Since several others are interested in feverfew, would someone please repost this suggestion? I'd like to haunt a health food store on Monday. As some of you know, I went to my first Acupuncture appointment last Tues & will revisit on Wed. There's been no change in my daily migraines (or my other whatever-they-are-(also daily)-headaches) since that one visit, but my epigastic pain has abruptly stopped. She did say I would "buy one, get one free" so I guess that was it (I'm still having insomnia too). Even after a big Thanksgiving meal, no tummy pain. I took the chance of trying a Mexican meal tonight, so we shall see. Thanks in adavance, & I hope everyone had a relatively painless Thanksgiving (PS: I )tried my sister's Firoinal while at her house & found it quite useless
