Journal of Migraine Sufferers

I'm 23 y/o and have been getting migrains that are progressively worse as I get older. Currently, I am on Roboxin (Muscle relaxer), Motrin, Imitrex, and feverfew. I am about to cry with one now...it starts in my neck and works its way over my head like a helmet. Now, my neck will not move and I've got moist heat on it. Has anyone had success with acupuncture?? My mother began getting them when she was in labor with me and the doctor gave her something to speed up the labor (there were no complications or tardiness) so we think something was passed through to me. My father also gets migrains and goes blind at their peak. Please help.

Kathlee, Sounds like you have Cluster/migraines. Much the same kind that I suffered with for more than 25 years untill I found the new of health supplements created by the DSHEA act called Nutraceuticals. Last year I only had 4 headaches instead of the 48-60 that was normal for me. E-mail or call me and I'll get you what info I have: (800) 757-7653 or rusto3@lightspeed.net Good Luck! Russ

Hello everyone, I have had headaches all my life, I get a headache everyday. They are not all migraines (thank goodness) or I fear I would have long ago gone insane. I never realized I had migraines until a couple of years ago when I was having a very bad headache that lasted in its intensity for over a week. At that point I went to the Dr. they started asking me about my migraine history. Funny once they called it that it made perfect sense. They gave me a shot and a referal to a nerologist(sp) and I have been seeing her for the last couple of years. I am curently taking Imetrex and Tigan for the nausea. So far nothing has worked on the daily headaches. Have any of you experienced daily headaches like this? If so, what have you found out about them? I really happy to have foud this place. -Buddy budeliah@earthlink.net

To Carol (again -Thanks!), Victoria, Lynda, and Martha, Thank you for you e-mail. I got many responses about having a hysterectomy to get rid of severe menstrual migraines and everyone said not to have one. For 11 years, I thought that would be the answer and now I'm having 2nd thoughts. I finally will be seeing a new GYN. in Jan. and will discuss different options with her, but having all your input has been helpful in making me re-think this. I've been taking a lot of Maxalt this week and I just read tonight about being careful not to take it more than 2 or 3 times per week because it can cause rebounds. It's the best med. that's ever worked for me but I'll use it more sparingly now. Looking forward to my "good week" coming up shortly but will be "due for migraines" on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Bummer! It must be a rule that all holidays be spent in agony in a dark room! Things could always be worse... P.S. My e-mail address of "rid" is for R.I. Dept. (of Ed.) but maybe it's a sign.?!
