Well, I have just been diagnosed with hypogycemia 4 weeks ago- since them I have been strictly following a certain diet and then BOOM! Right in the middle of sex (I know it's weird) this pain came over me- I felt as if I were going to doe- pain shooting through the back of my neck and head landing right beneath my eyes- I couldn't look at light had to close my eyes and was extremely nautious....it did not go away- and I was meeting friends for dinner in 1/2 hr! They said I was spacing out the entire time- I couldn't even carry on a conversation non the less even think about eating my dinner. I was very frightened. Then two days ago the same thing happened to me afetr returning home from NYC- although this time is was worse- I was frantic, called my doctor and he said he would meet me at th emergency room - that I should have someone drive me there. I was diagnosed with having cluster migraines- I think- this is all new to me- I spent 7 hours in the emergency room yesterday because I thought I was having a stoke- I got all kinds of shots and was given all sorts of pills- my pain finally went away but got another migraine last night while having sex (again) ! after all the reading I've been doing over the past 2 days- I thought sex was supposed to help! What is going on- my doctor gave me a persciption for a dietary consult for a hypoglycemic and tyamine free diet- what does that leave me with? Saltines? I'm so distrought and I'm starting my dream job at a high profile magazine Monday morning and can't let anything get in the way of this- I'm only 24 yrs. old and I live by myself- my boyfriend doesn't know what to do- he just rubs my head when it happens and feels guilty- I also received a perscription for esgic-plus which I took last night at 2:20am - I didn't wake up until 12noon today! I can't have this happeneing to me with my new job and all- I'm a very bust person and need to accomplish certain things throughout my day and wouls like to continue having a normal sex life also. What do I do- I'm so in the dark about all this- I'm not sure where to turn to now- my doctor is great- but I've also heard that chiropractors are freat for this sort of thing- but them I heard that they can cause stroke- please, if anyone has any insight as to how I can handle this new found misery please let me know.
Scared and helplessly confused, Jess

I just found the migraine sight and can't believe how many people are here. I am 24 and have suffered from migraines since I was 14. I rarely got them, maybe once every year or so. I always got the partial blindness and a throbbing headache. I just had my first baby 4 mo. ago and ever since I have had him I have migraines 3 to 4 times a month. I know it is not as bad as some of you but, it's hard to deal with. My OBGYN seems to think it's all hormonal. I have taken Midrin for them and it takes the edge off but, doesn't really get rid of the pain. I have partial blindness for about 15 min. then I get an awful headache that can last for a few days. I also get nausea, cold chills & sometimes numbness in my hands, feet and my tongue. If anyone suffers from migraines after childbirth like I do please feel free to E-mail me. Good luck to all of you. Maybe someday there will be a cure. We can only hope and pray.

Hi everyone,
I don't know if you remember me but I first wrote my case history
in feburary of this year. I was the 17 y.o in the car accident.
I finally found a great doctor! I told him all about my headaches and
all the other symptoms. So he immediately ordered an ECG and
some blood work. He found out that I was hyerthyroidism. I am going
to get a radioactive iodine scan to see if it nothing or a tumor. So
he told me that all the migraine headaches and other symptoms
are a result of my thyroid. He had no problem giving me Vicodin. He allows
me to have two a day! And he agrees that more doctors need to be
tolerant of other peoples main. I am also on Ambien to help me
sleep and propanolol to make sure my thyroid condition does not
get worse. Well I wish the best of luck to everyone else. If you
do not like your doctor don't give up, their are still good ones
out there!

I stared to have migrains three years ago. sometimes I just want to bang my head on the wall. It is hard for my sons to understand why I need to have a very dark place or I have to go to the doctor and the only way I can get a little releif is by getting a shot that make me feel numb. finding this page I know I am not alone.
Thank YOU

I was reading, with interest, the journal entries. I would like to say that I am one of the minority of women that suffer from cluster migraines. I started my clusters when I was 21 years young. I am now 40. At first I was brushed off with the different diagnosises ranging from stress to hypoglycemia. I knew I suffered from migraines because my mother, grandmother, and brother got them. I then passed them on to my son who was diagnosed at 4 years old with migraines and takes a daily preventative. I have been on everything with very limited success. I dread season changes as that is the trigger to my cluster--it is as simple as that. Spring or fall bring six weeks of continuous debilitating headaches. My neurologist has prescribed steriods for me the last two episodes of clusters. Both times these steriods have broken the cycle and allowed only a few migraines in the cluster cycle. I am crossing my fingers that it will continue to work as I am getting tired of all preventatives, oxygen therapy, and Imitrex. Hopefully, I will be like my mother and grandmother and "lose" these headaches when I reach menopause. And hopefully, my son doesn't get migraines after he matures. That is a lot of hoping but for migraine suffers, that sometimes all we have. To all migraine suffers: Enjoy the migraine free times and when you have a migraine, remember all those who suffer along with you. It won't ease the pain but it, at least, makes me glad to know that I am not the only one who suffers.
