Journal of Migraine Sufferers

Hi, My name is Joey. I am 15 years old. I have had migraines from the age of 4 years old. My mom told me about the first time she realized that I was suffering from migraine headaches. She told me that I would cry and lie in a dark room, and finally vomit. I have a migraine at least once a month. I am homeschooled, thank goodness. My mom also has migraine headaches and understands completely. Imitrex pills (25 mg.) work well. If I am vomiting my mom will give me Phenergan. I would really appreciate a letter from the other young girls out there who have migraines. thank you Joey AliceE.Gibson

I am a 22 year old migrain/cluster suffer. I have suffered for over fifteen years but was not truely diagnosed until 12 years old. As everyone knows after suffering this long, it feel like a life time. Presently, I am in nursing school trying to get through. I as one of the rare sufferes, two to four headaches a weeks which eventually bleed into each other making the week fell like one big headache. I, like all other people who have suffered for an extended period of time have tryied everything; from acupuncture, biofeedback, and every medication known to man. I have gone to every doctor that would take me and after a while they all just said the samething "Deal with it" or "Live with it". When I was 12, and suffered my real first attack that lasted four days the doctors tried to accuse my parents, my sister and me. They thought this was a 12 year old way to get attention. Now as an adult I do have to "live through it." What is the hardest is having people understand; even my closest friends still don't completely understand. there is a new medication out there call Migranal. Its DHE in a nasal spray. It does not cause nausea, vomiting or drowsiness, you are able to go on with your life. Since I am in nursing school they do not allow me to take any days off, so if you are in the same perdicament that I am in give it a try. Friornal is also another good medication that works that has very few side effects. Write to me at annalisalinton@juno.com even if it just makes you feel better to talk to someone who knows. Mu mother is always there for me, but she does not suffer and she does not know completely how it feel. If you have not been there you don't completely know Annalisa Linton, Mission Viejo Ca

I have a question for you all. I am a fellow migraine sufferer and I know exactly what works for me... Lorcet 10/650. I have no side effects from it. No drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, etc. My simple question is this: Is there a pharmacist that will sell me the Lorcet anywhere? I am treated like an addict when I go to the ER to get relief. I am just in incredible pain and I want it to stop. One time I went in and I was there for 4 hours waiting on the bed. There were no patients that were in life or death situations, the staff was just deciding whether or not I was really in pain. (I heard them talking) Finally, a doctor came into my room and after an examination he said, "I am going to try a beta block through an IV. It probably won't work, but let's try anyway." How did that doctor think I was going to respond to THAT? I just want relief from the pain. I will check back with the journal daily. If there is anyone out there that can give relief to some of us, we would be forever in your debt.

My 28-year migraine history is already journalized. I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to everyone suffering from migraines. I am getting 2 to 3 migraines per week, and nothing has helped. If there is anyone who has a success story, PLEASE share it with me! I need to know that people have received an effective migraine treatment plan. Possibly, it could be beneficial for me and others. Thanks for your support. Beverly T

Hi to everyone to whom I have talked to about going on Oprah or just going public with our storys I might have found the right email address and the right topic for getting on her show. The topic is : Are you angry about something that is happening in your life? Well I guess we all are arn't we? anyway this may be as close as we get as far as the topic goes unless she asked the question to you suffer from migraine headaches?? Anyway there is a form to fill out to tell your story and then submit so we know she would get it and I have tried other email addresses and got no where. Email me and let me know if you think we should go for it and I will email you the address. Thanks Janet

I was diagnosed with complicated migraines in 1996. I get stroke symptoms, and need to be hospitalized frequently. I am on numerous medications, but still get regular pain. I work in a local ER,and have a great female neurologist, but I am very grateful for finding this journal. I would appreciate hearing from other suffers with the same symptoms, or anyone else that would like to discuss their problem. Thanks for having the journal!!!

Hi! I wrote in here a while back and wanted to thank all those who have written me with their suggestions and support. I, unfortunately, have found I have several other health problems, at this time. I have been put on blood pressure medicine recently and have had only minor headaches, since. In one way, it's a relief, in another, it just something new to deal with. I don't really know if that is what has helped or not, but I'm not going to question it. They haven't found what is wrong with me, yet, other than the high blood pressure, but if I find out that it has any correlation to the migraines I was having, I will let you all know. Thanks again for your support and it's so nice to be able to come here and see that people DO understand what it's like. My best to you all, and God bless.
